What are they?

Any Equation in the form ax + bx + c is called a quadratic equation.

In order for the quadratic to be solved, the RHS needs to be 0, and x needs to be the highest power in the equation.

When a quadratic is in the form of an inequation, you have to solve it with the RHS 0 and factorize the LHS into terms of x, for example

x - x - 2 > 0

(x+1)(x-2) > 0

then it depends on the sign of the inequality;

if the sign is x>0 , the graph opens upwards and the values on the x axis are considered; and the opposite is true for x<0
